CLIMBING ADVISORY 2011#1 – Annual Rescue Procedure Requirement
A CLIMBING ADVISORY is mandatory reading for all Climbing and COPE Personnel. The 2010 Climbing and Rappelling Standard M37(see below) makes it necessary that all Climbing and COPE Instructors, Facilitators, Directors and IITs review and rehearse their rescue procedures annually. The 2010 Climbing and Rappelling Standard M37(see below) makes it necessary that all Climbing and COPE Instructors, Facilitators, Directors and IIT’s review and rehearse their rescue procedures annually. To date the committee has been pretty forgiving on the interpretation of ‘annual’. If your training date is 2009 or before and you have not refreshed your rescue procedures by April 3rd, you can no longer use the tower or check out NA gear.
Between now and then, there are three training opportunities at Doks Tower:
Wednesday Feb 2nd from 7p to 10p
Wednesday Feb 16th from 7p to 10p (Committee Meeting night)
Sunday April 3rd, 8a-12p
Please plan to attend if you have not already updated your rescue procedures. Contact Jim Miller at email@example.com and get your name on a list. Critical mass for a class is at least 6 so sign up by noon the day before. If you are signed up, you will be alerted via email by 1pm the day before if the class is not going to make.
